The Center for Particle Cosmology would like to announce an important leadership change. Professor Mark Trodden, who has co-directed the center since its founding in 2009, was recently announced as the new Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and has decided to step down as co-Director, effective May 1, 2025. Professor Trodden will, however, continue as a key member and contributor to the Center.
We are delighted to announce that Professor Justin Khoury has been appointed as the new co-Director, working alongside Professor. Bhuvnesh Jain, who will continue in his role. Professor Khoury has been an integral contributor to the intellectual life and organizational structure of the Center since its founding. As you know, he is a theoretical physicist whose research, at the intersection of cosmology and particle physics, perfectly aligns with the mission of the Center. He is renowned for developing and investigating novel theories of dark matter, dark energy, and the early universe, with his most notable contributions including co-developing the ekpyrotic model of the early universe, the chameleon mechanism for dark energy, and the concept of dark matter superfluidity. Professor Khoury's work has been recognized with several honors, including an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, an NSF CAREER Award, the 2017 Buchalter Cosmology Prize, and the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching.
We hope that you will join us in congratulating Professor Khoury on this new position, and in wishing him luck in helping to guide the Center in its future endeavors.
